Molén: 1. What is the name of your collection?
Toni: My latest collection SS2012 is called Seekers, an allegory of humanity, who lives looking for subsistence and the need of being in movement constantly.
2. Who inspires you (for the last collection)?
Seekers is inspired by the migratory movements and the need to survive at a wild environment. The quest for freedom and sense of identity with are merged with the aesthetics of diferent cultures.
3. Which colors, fabrics did you use?
Seekers uses yellow and earthy colors to represent the sand and stones, and red and blue as the sky.
I use natural fabrics like linen, silk, hemp and cotton. Materials blend creates garments that provide a sense of protection or weathering, especially light and volatile fabrics, which merge with the wind.
4. Shapes:
The silhouettes are wide, overlapping and asymmetrically constructed to imitate forms presented in nature and get an impression of comfort and protection.
5. Lengths:
In SEEKERS lengths are asymmetrical, short and also knee length skirts ... there is always a play of lengths and overlaps on the sides, hips and rear.
6. Mood style:
SEEKERS has an optimistic mood, with initiative and strong attitude, ready to go and discover, and acquire new knowledges. Seekers is completely positive.
7. Accessories:
SEEKERS accessories have been created with natural elements such as stones and pieces of wood, looking for the effect of erosion of air, water and sand, basic elements of the collection.
8. When you design something, what goes throughout your mind?
When designing I try to clean my mind from previous inspirations, think only in the new elements chosen to inspire the new collection and I start drawing sketches on paper, that will become later on the final pieces, but my creative process may be different each season.
9. How do you intend women to feel when wearing your designs?
SEEKERS and also the rest of my previous collections are designed to make women feel very feminine but also comfortable.
